In November of last year I tried the National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo for the second time. Why? Because I want to be a published author and so I need manuscripts. Manuscripts? Isn’t one manuscript enough? Not in my estimation. Let’s look at it this way.
Suppose you write a suspense thriller and the agent wants a family story. Then you are without a path. Or suppose you sell a novel and the agent/publisher wants three more books promising you a long term deal if you can turn them out rapid-fire. Besides that the more you write the better you get. You learn how to plot out your story so you eliminate plot holes.
Following this theory I am using 2017 A to Z to lay out the characters, setting and plot of a new historical novel called the Steel Horse Saviors. Basically the gist is that three Civil War veterans head west in 1866 with a steam locomotive to seek their fortune. The Saviors are trying to escape their past, but encounter a gorgeous redhead desperately trying to save her family business.
